It’s not so much a prediction as a question. A powerful one. It’s also the question I posed to my coaching clients in recent weeks, including solo advisors, national RIAs, fintechs and the CEOs of some recognizable names. Now, more than ever, you need to have a confident answer to this question, one that has you feeling positive about the future. If you cannot yet answer this question with confidence, know that you are not alone.
The secret to success in uncertain and changing times: get clear, get focused and get to work. We just tend to do them in the reverse order and with entirely too much mediocrity. When you get paid to think, the quality of your thoughts matters. In times like these, immensely. At a time when we most need to press onward confidently, there is no time or energy to waste on unproductive thoughts or tactics.
Yes, the markets are behaving for the time being, but there is ample reason to prepare for a protracted downturn. If that weren’t enough, the intersection of trends re-shaping the profession and pandemic-imposed isolation is accelerating trends that will impact every advisor in ways that matter.
